Parliamentarians, Government Agencies and the public can apply for a permit to hold an event on Parliament Hill.

When to apply

Applications may take up to 10 business days to process. Apply early!

Note that applications received more than 365 days in advance will not be processed.

Refusal of permit

The application can be denied if the event plan:

Do not assume that your application will be approved until you receive the Confirmation and Event Permit. It will be sent to the email address used by the applicant to submit the application.

Note that the environment on Parliament Hill is constantly evolving. As such, event permits may be cancelled without notice.

Know the rules and ensure your guests do too

The General Rules on the Use of Parliament Hill serve to preserve this historic landmark for generations to come as well as protect the thousands of people who come to Parliament Hill each day to work, learn, share and play.

The event organizer is responsible for ensuring that all event participants know the rules. Event participants should also be aware of bag restrictions, opening hours and other security measures for entering the Parliament Buildings.

Note that participating in any form of demonstration inside the buildings is prohibited, including wearing items or clothing with visible political messages.

Be prepared

As an event organizer you should have a plan in place to deal with situations such as a security incident or a medical emergency.
